We have all settled back into school and are really enjoying our polar lands topic. The children have been learning about Emperor penguins, polar bears and suitable clothing for polar conditions.
In the classroom we have been putting on winter clothes and this has helped us manage gloves and hats as well as zips and buttons independently. We have been exploring cold colours in Art and the children have shown fantastic representation drawing penguins.. it is amazing to see how they are developing.
We are focusing on pincer grip in group time and the children are developing their concentration and focus in these activities.
In music and movement we have been focusing on keeping a steady beat and developing cross lateral movement ie marching whilst swinging opposite arm to leg, crossing body to touch opposite arm to knee. This is an incredibly important developmental skill and practise with this at home would be beneficial.
Next week we will be beginning to look at family and people who care for us so please, if you have not sent in a baby photo yet, could you send asap.
