Amazing planets and amazing little minds!
This week we have continued our exploration of our solar system and we have been amazed at just how much the children have grasped and remembered about our universe!
This has led to some great imaginative play in art and small world and the children have been able to make and create using different materials, gaining valuable practice using joiners such as glue and sellotape developing those all important fine motor skills.
Outside they have been practising balancing on the beams at various heights and lots more practise of this when you are out and about at the parks or playgrounds will really help develop your child’s confidence in this area. We find that children recognise their own limitations and will not do something that is beyond their capabilities. Our job is to allow them to explore and try taking these risks to maximise the feeling of pride when they accomplish something they once found difficult.
We are developing their awareness of a ‘set’ through sorting activities in maths and doing lots of practical counting.
We have been using lots of language to explore textures and observe changes by making moon sand and space slime and the children really enjoyed this.
We are continuing to talk about the nativity story in preparation for our play. The children have a really good understanding of the story and have been enjoying singing all our songs. I have included a few more videos of us practising so that you can help your child with the words and talk to them about our show.
Today we had our PJ day to launch our big bedtime read, we had hot chocolate and bedtime stories as well as building dens in the classroom. Your child has a book bag home with them today, please refer to the note inside for instructions.
Have a great weekend!
