Autumn all around us!
Thank you for returning your treasure bags with lots of interesting autumn collections we have been using these all week to complete art activities, sorting and matching activities and giving us lots of opportunities to talk and discuss.
The children have been doing lots of planting both in the school garden and for home. they will be bringing home a daffodil bulb to look after over the Winter and hopefully in the Spring time they will be able to tell us about what they have grown.
We have been reading lots of Autumn themed stories and the ‘Owl Babies’ has been very popular. We have introduced the puppets from the story into our classroom play.
Sharing and turn taking is still a major focus in the room and we would ask that you use the Golden rules books to really talk to your child about being a good friend in school. In school we use sand timers to help with sharing and it would be helpful if you also talk to your child about this.
The children enjoyed a forest school session with Mrs McBride on Tuesday and were able to match Autumn colours to their collections.
Next Tuesday we will be travelling by bus to Castlecoole. We will not be asking parents to accompany us this time as it is better for us to familiarise the children with this environment and what is expected before inviting parents along.
Next Friday will be our Autumn colour day and we will be encouraging children to dress in an Autumn colour for school.
