Eco week 2023
This week as we have continued our theme on farming and new life we have been thinking about our eco code, ‘grow and learn together’. We hope you have had a chance to chat to your child about some of the eco items you have been given and how we can use them to help look after our world. The children were very excited to get their ‘homework’ on Thursday night…..let’s hope this continues as they have a few years of it ahead of them?.
Outdoors we have had superheroes assemble as we have worked together to rescue our friends and save each other from the ‘baddies’. We have been making big patterns and big paintings together.
We have had a fantastic week of earning and learning at our class cafe! We have been amazed at the children’s grasp of money and we have had so much fun spending our pennies at the cafe. On Thursday we made treats to sell at our cafe, created menu’s and even gave our cafe a name and the children were able to spend the money they had earned buying treats. This is such a valuable life skill and we would encourage you to continue these experiences at home. An old fashioned piggy bank where children can earn a few pence for carrying out simple chores is a great motivator as well as teaching children that money needs to be earned and then accumulated before something can be bought. They will be so excited to take their pennies to the shop to buy a treat. Handling money is a very important concept and early exposure will be so beneficial..who knows we may have the next Lord Sugar in our midst!
Remember that we will be completing our walk to school on Thursday and there is no school on Friday due to St Patrick’s day.
