Winter Wonderland
This week we have been continuing our topic of winter and learning more about snow, ice and how to keep warm.
The children have enjoyed investigating the properties of ice and snow outdoors and had great fun throwing snowballs at the staff and each other.
During the week the children enjoyed rescuing some penguins who had become trapped in blocks of ice. They used pipettes with warm weather and hammers to break and melt the ice.
The children enjoyed parachute songs based on snowballs and snowflakes and listened to a sensory story today called “One Snowy Night”
We have also been busy mark making in a tuff tray filled with glittery salt and creating polar bear paintings at the art table. Today the children practiced their cutting skills by using children’s knives to cup up banana and cucumbers to make snowmen snacks.
Please remember next Friday 26th January, that your child can bring a special person to school for the last half hour of the session to play games and sing songs. The children and visitors will leave school together when finished at normal home time.
